Stories from the family - Friendship

Welcome to the fortnightly story from Christian Life Church, Shipley. Every fortnight we publish stories from the church family here at CLC. We believe in and serve a loving, caring God who desires to express His love towards us in all sorts of ways. These stories will tell you something of the type of God we love.

"Since joining CLC I have met lots of people who are genuine. They have become friends who are interested in me as a person and have talked to me and wanted to get to know me for who I am. They have accepted me as I am. This has built me up as a person."

Stories from the family - Not about rules

Welcome to the fortnightly story from Christian Life Church, Shipley. Every fortnight we publish stories from the church family here at CLC. We believe in and serve a loving, caring God who desires to express His love towards us in all sorts of ways. These stories will tell you something of the type of God we love.

"Having been born and brought up in church all my life, CLC is very different from any other church I’ve ever been in. I’ve learnt that Christianity isn’t about being good, or about rules and regulations to get right and get to heaven. Instead I understand now that it’s about a heart relationship with Jesus and other people and about living an abundant life now. I have also learnt how much God loves me, that I’m precious and special, that He delights in me and that relationship is everything."

Teachings in August - Week 3

For four weeks in August we are keeping the children in the meeting the whole time and are looking at 4 different parables that Jesus told. Each week we are also having a memory verse with a prize for those who can remember all four at the end of the month. The first weeks parable was the parable of the sower from Matthew 13.

The memory verse is "Those who truly hear and understand God's word, produce a harvest”Matt 13:23 (NLT).

Last week we considered the parable of the wheat and the tares, also from Matthew 13.

The memory verse this week is "God’s people will shine like the sun in their Fathers Kingdom." Matt 13:43 (NIrV).

Yesterday we looked at the parable of the hidden treasure and the pearl, also from Matt 13.

This weeks memory verse is "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness" Matt 6:33 (NKJV)

Stories from the family - Marriage Improved

Welcome to the fortnightly story from Christian Life Church, Shipley. Every fortnight we publish stories from the church family here at CLC. We believe in and serve a loving, caring God who desires to express His love towards us in all sorts of ways. These stories will tell you something of the type of God we love.

"As I have learnt to understand that God is interested in me for being me it has enabled me to see just how important relationships are. These relationships have made the times that I go around the mountains fewer, and the times that I see the mountains move greater. There are many things where my wife and I have seen mountains move, from times such as when we were struggling to have children. God moved the mountain in a powerful way, and we now have two wonderful children.

One of the other mountains that God moved in a way where we really didn't think was going to be possible was with regards to our marriage. It felt as though it was going nowhere; we both thought that we were doing everything that we could for each other but we just were not seeing it improve. A marriage course was run at CLC so we participated in the course and I think that the Godly wisdom that was in the course saved our marriage and gave us steps to take on a daily basis to help us communicate with each other in a way that is selfless. As we worked on the steps, it enabled us to love each other in a new way and we appreciated each other far more."
